While looking through some older magazines and idea books recently, I found this card:

I liked how the embellishments were lined up in rainbow order and how colorful and cheery the card was. Since I didn’t have those flowers at home, I re-created a similar look using a butterfly die-cut (or a punch would work, too):

I die-cut my butterflies from different papers and added a few gems for my own custom embellishments. I arranged them on my card, added a border punch and a stamp, and it was done. Fast, easy, and cute!

Did you know that you can find over 2,000 project ideas on Archiver’s online idea pages? While I was browsing through them, I came across this card from several years back:

Even thought the papers are a little outdated, I like the design of this card. With a few October Afternoon papers, some kraft cardstock, a couple circle punches, and a cute Hero Arts sentiment stamp, I made a card that’s a bit more modern and fits my personal style a little better.

That’s the great thing about scrap-lifting–you don’t have to copy an idea exactly! You can take bits and pieces of the design, colors, techniques, etc. and turn them into something more “you”. Or, take an older idea and update it with current product to give it a whole new look.

Spend a few minutes looking through Archiver’s idea pages–you’re bound to find a ton of great ideas you can scrap-lift, too!

Today certainly feels like Monday after celebrating an enjoyable holiday weekend! If you’re looking for a festive way to thank the hosts of a backyard BBQ or other holiday gathering, consider this red, white and blue inspired thank you card! Over the weekend, we honored the American flag and wouldn’t you know, paper-crafted flags are all the rage right now too! Create your flag base using patterned paper or cardstock, layer with sparkly glitter sticker letters, and adhere to your card with Pop Dots and natural twine. From there, grab your favorite coordinating scraps and creatively layer for a “piecy” effect. To avoid a really linear look, create small tears in one of the layers and rub lightly with chalk ink. Then, grab your favorite border punch (mine is Threading Water by Fiskars) to complete the layered chain. To finish, add a touch of bling with small gold metals. While the card takes minutes to make, you’ll make a lasting impression on your hosts with your festive token of appreciation!
