It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…I think I’ve been saying that for weeks.  Uff da.

Culynn and I just set up our Christmas tree on Sunday night.  It’s my first year with a fake tree (gotta love apartment living!) so we’re going to enjoy that Christmas tree as long as we can!  We even got some cute ornaments this weekend, including a pirate nutcracker, a “Chateau Santa” wine bottle, a hand-carved nativity scene, and personalized wedding cake ornament for our first Christmas.  Aww…

Hopefully my mom won’t read this, but we bought part of her Christmas present over the weekend too and that got me thinking about wrapping present.  Seriously.  I love wrapping presents.  I get it from my mother…she goes all out for present wrapping.  Ribbons, bows, gorgeous papers, the whole nine yards.  That’s where Pinterest comes in…

Pinterest has AMAZING Christmas and holiday ideas and super clever wrapping ideas.  So that’s my Pin of the Week for this week (and there will be more to come in the next couple of weeks).  Check it out:

Easy and adorable.  Some kraft paper (paper bags work great or even newspaper!), an alphabet stamp set, your favorite ink, and some ribbon.  You could also stamp “Merry Christmas” “Happy Holidays” “Happy Hanukkah” “Feliz Navidad” “Happy Birthday”…the list goes on!

Check out another cute stamping idea:

Instead of stamped letters, stamp a fun design all over your paper!  No matter what you stamp or how you stamp, each present is going have that handmade touch that everyone loves.

Happy Wrapping everyone!  Stay tuned for more holiday fun on the blog!

Happy Friday everyone!  The weekend is finally here…in another seven hours I guess…

It’s another Make and Take Weekend at Archiver’s…we’ve dubbed August “Make and Take Month” because there are just so many cool things to show you!

This weekend, as was mentioned on Facebook and Twitter yesterday, you can make an adorable card using stamps and paints from Claudine Hellmuth.  The stamps are fantastic and the paints are so vibrant!  Love them!

So going along with this, I have a video to share with you!

CHECK IT OUT!

Don’t be afraid of stamping with paints!  It’s super easy and creates such a different look than stamping with ink.

Happy Weekend!

A “How To” Post

You asked for it on Facebook…so here you go!

The “how to” I have for you today is about this adorable scrapbook page that Kirsten made:

The polka dots were made using stamps and paints by Claudine Hellmuth (she also used some black VersaFine ink on the dots too).  All you’ll need are the stamp sets you’re going to use (you really could use any stamp or stamp set to create a cool background for a scrapbook page), paints, paint brushes, ink if you choose to use it, and all of your other scrapping items for that page.  So here goes:

Step One: Grab all of your scrapping stuff and get ready to paint!

Step Two: Apply a light layer of paint the the foam stamp.  You can also paint on clear stamps and rubber stamps.

Step Three: Stamp your image.

Step Four: Apply more paint and stamp the image again.  Repeat as many times as you need to complete the image.  On Kirsten’s scrapbook page, she switched colors and then stamped again.

Step Five: Grab the clear stamp (Kirsten used the Claudine Hellmuth stamps that go together) and ink up the stamp with black ink.  She’s using VersaFine.

Step Six: Stamp the image over the image you stamped using paint.

Step Seven: Ta Da!  You’ve created a funky border down the bottom (or side, or top) of your scrapbook page!

It’s easy as that!  Make sure you check out the Claudine Hellmuth stamps and paints.  They really are an easy way to add a lot to your artsy craftsy project!

AND!  There are still seats available for Claudine Hellmuth’s ScrapFest 2011 Workshop!  Check it out!

Minis!

Happy Friday everyone!

We are just loving mini cards right now!  Have you seen how cute the new Make It Mini workshop is!

I just thought I’d share a couple mini cards with you today…maybe just for some weekend inspiration.

For this card, I used some Bazzill cardstock (the teal and white), some kraft cardstock (Canvas Home Basics), Tumbled Glass and Worn Lipstick Distress inks, the Typeset alphabet die from Time Holtz, the Notebook embossing folder from Tim Holtz, the Binding Edge punch from EK Success, an ink applicator with foam pads, my handy-dandy Paper Distresser, the Xyron (best thing ever!), and some adhesive.  Oh and a paper trimmer in there too.  Super easy mini card.

Here’s another one:

Looks busy, but it’s not!  Promise!  I used some navy and kraft cardstock, Sepia and Jet Black Archival inks, tissue tape from Tim Holtz, string, light blue gems, Pop Dots, my Paper Distresser, ink applicator with foam pads, and two Tim Holtz stamp sets.

Making regular sized cards is really difficult for me.  I have so many great ideas, but never know how to put them on a standard sized card.  Minis definitely take the pressure off.  I don’t have to put a lot of things on a mini card, which makes it so easy to make a bunch of them in one sitting.  Kind of like ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) for those of you that love making those.

Try making some minis today…and be sure to check out Make it Mini at your local Archiver’s!

Wow it’s been a while since I’ve blogged.  I got married Memorial Day weekend and then went to St. Maarten for the most perfect vacation ever!  But now I’m back and there are so many exciting things going on here at Archiver’s, I don’t even know where to start!

It’s almost July (holy cow where did June go!) and so that means we’ll be featuring a new Page of the Month and Card of the Month in our stores…hence the “of the months” in the title of this post.  The Page of the Month is awesome and will hopefully inspire you to scrap all your summer adventures.  Check it out:

Along with this 12” x 12” layout, we have a “hybrid” layout using the We R Memory Keepers system.

The best thing about scrapbooking with the We R Memory Keepers system is that your scrapbooks will be done in a flash.  You don’t have to make every single page in your album a full 12” x 12” layout, you can mix and match your pages.  For instance, with these Chicago pages, we could have the 12” x 12” layout, then the pocket page that has been embellished, and then we could add a couple of pocket pages that just have photos.  Easy as that!

The other great thing about the Page of the Month is that we’ve had one every month, starting February this year.  Check out all of the layouts and the Cards of the Month HERE.

Speaking of Card of the Month…check out July’s card.  A. Dorable.

Stamping Bella has some of the cutest stamps and they are perfect for coloring.  This image was colored using regular colored pencils and Gamsol, but you could totally use Copic Markers, watercolor pencils, you name it!

I’m already working on a blog post for next Monday…so if you are interested in seeing more of the We R Memory Keepers system (and how fantastically easy it is!), you CANNOT miss Monday’s blog post!
