Oh my word.

A bunch of new goodies have been added to the Annex…and this one is just too cute.  I kind of can’t stand how cute this border punch is…hence the reason I picked it for this week’s Annex Pick of the Week:

Check out the other adorable styles from Jenni Bowlin and Fiskars…they’re probably just ask cute:

I love border punches and I love that they can be a bold statement on a page or they can be super subtle.

Check out the rest of the border and edge punches on the Annex: http://www.archiversannex.com/Punches-And-Crafting-Tools/Border-And-Edge-Punches/default.aspx?PageID=20&CategoryID=106

Pins and Deals

Happy Tuesday!

You know what Tuesday means at Archiver’s…50% off all photos prints and copies!

It’s kind of ridiculous that I didn’t think of this sooner…

Pinterest has AMAZING photography and wonderful tips and tricks all over the place.

I got a “fancy” camera last March, right before my family went on our “last family vacation” before I got married.  I seriously love my camera…but almost a year later, I’m still learning the ins and outs.

That’s why I love Pinterest and the incredible inspiration it can be…so here’s my Pin of the Week for this Tuesday with 50% off photo prints and copies:

Here are just a couple of the photos that I’ve find on Pinterest that I just think are gorgeous:

And another one:

Ok just kidding.  :)

Your photos don’t have to be the best of the best to include them in an album or a scrapbook layout.  Some of my favorite layouts are of the goofy photos or the photos that didn’t quite work.  My mother in law has a tricksy camera that doesn’t always let her take the picture she wants…so sometimes you have to make do with what you have…but sometimes those are the best memories!

Do you have any great photo tips or tricks?  I’d love to hear them!  Leave a comment or post one on the Archiver’s Facebook page.

Stop by your local Archiver’s today for 50% off all photo prints and copies!

Getting Started

Happy Thursday!  Is this week flying by for you, too?  Uff da.

I’ve been scrapbooking for years (I think since 9th grade?) and I absolutely love it…but don’t get me wrong, I can get super overwhelmed working on a scrapbook.  Where to start, what to buy for a new album, what size do I want my pictures, does my album have a theme, the questions are endless.

If you’re brand new to scrapbooking and don’t know where to start, or maybe you’re an avid stamper and card-maker and want to try your hand at scrapbooking, or maybe you’ve been scrapping for years and want a bit of a refresher, we’ve got the perfect guide for you:

The “Start Scrapbooking” Getting Started Guide has so many great tips and ideas to get you started on a scrapbook.  Whether you’re scrapping from 25 years ago, or the birthday party your child had last weekend, this guide has everything you need to UNDERwhelm you.  Here are a couple of samples from the guide:

This gets even better…

My husband is from Mitchell, South Dakota, home of the world’s one and only Corn Palace.  Have you ever been there?  It’s quite the sight.  Yesterday, Mitchell, SD broke the high temperature record (according to the local weatherman here in Minnesota) by 17 degrees.  I’m pretty sure my father-in-law was running around in a t-shirt all day.  I most definitely would’ve busted out the flip flops and my giant floppy hat.

It’s a heat wave!

So in honor of the “winter that wasn’t”…I have a tropical pick of the week:

Graphic 45 has some of the most intricate patterns and designs.  Seriously, some of them I don’t even want to cover up with photos.  I bought the entire On The Boardwalk line to frame and decorate a room with some day.

Check out this adorable card using the Tropical Travelogue collection:

This collection is available on the Annex or at your local Archiver’s.

Hope you’re all enjoying this wacky winter!

Well shoot.

It’s about time I had a scrapbook-y Pin of the Week, don’t ya think?  Geez.

Christmas is on its way…and so are the hundreds of pictures taken on this wonderful holiday and all of the other wonderful holidays celebrated this month.

I’m going to be celebrating Christmas six times during the month of December.  Christmas Eve with one side of the fam, Christmas Morning just Culynn and I,  Christmas Later Morning with the other side of the fam, Christmas the day after Christmas with my whole fam (my sister is a nurse, so we’re extending it a bit), and then two Christmas celebrations out in South Dakota with Culynn’s fam and extended fam.

So boy howdy I’m going to need some help scrappin’ Christmas this year.  For the most part, I like to keep one event per page (unless a lot of things happened and I have to squish it all into one layout).  So six Christmas layouts, here I come.

Thank goodness for inspiration from Pinterest…

I know it’s a bit early to make a New Year’s resolution, but it’s a great idea to scrap Christmas and the holidays shortly after they happen.  Stay tuned for an email from Archiver’s with all sorts of great Christmas scrapping and layout ideas!

Well Now What?

So if you’ve ever gotten photos from Shutterfly, they usually come with the contact sheet of the tiny little photos…

I usually use them as a reference so I know which envelope has which photos.  But then what.  Once you’re done scrapping those photos, or putting them in albums, or putting them in frames, then what do you do?

Here’s my idea (that’s not really my idea, but I can’t remember where I found it!  I think it was from Laura Kurz):

Each little picture on this page is from my contact sheets.  It took me a while to lay them out the way I wanted (Hi my name is Meg and I’m a perfectionist) but once I had it figured out, all I had to do was adhere, add some letter stickers, and done.  I pop-dotted a few of the pictures, just for a bit more dimension.

This will be the first page in my honeymoon album, and just a great way to document all of the fun things we did in St. Maarten in June.  It also kind of takes the pressure off of scrapping every single photo.

I’m waiting for a bunch of prints from my wedding…and I think the first double page spread is going to be contact prints of the entire day.

You can also do contact prints on the Sony machine at Archiver’s!  Just sayin’.

Happy Scrapping!

Martha Tuesday!

Hey there blog readers!  How are you this fine Tuesday?

If you haven’t heard, it’s Martha Stewart week at Archiver’s and Archivers Annex!  All week long we’re celebrating the queen of crafting.

For today’s Martha Stewart themed blog post, I thought I’d share an adorable idea that was passed along to me from our lovely store in Indianapolis, Indiana (Thanks Monique!).  It’s a rosette pumpkin!

Isn’t it just adorable!  Check out the project idea on our website for all the items you’ll need to make a rosette pumpkin and directions on how to put it together.

You can definitely play around with the sizes of your papers and rosettes to make all sorts of different pumpkins.  I made two smaller ones and just messed around with different sized rosettes until I found the combination I liked the best.  I used Bazzill cardstocks to make this pumpkin:

I made the second pumpkin with patterned paper, just to try a different look.  This paper is from the Authentique Glowing collection (I also used some more Bazzill cardstock for the stem and vines).  Again, I just tried different rosettes until I found the combination I liked best!  Here it is:

Here’s a shot of both of them together, next to a standard sized pair of scissors, so you can see how big they actually are.  The biggest rosette on the orange pumpkin I made is from 2 1/2″ x 12″ strips of cardstock.

The great thing about pumpkins, is that each pumpkin looks totally different than the one sitting next to it.  Make a bunch of different sized rosettes and layer them however you want to create a whole patch of pumpkins!

To learn more on how to make rosettes, check out this VIDEO!
