I am in mid-planning for a family trip to Disney World this summer. My husband and I took our eldest son Will, when he was four. Will was in awe of the place. My husband and I smiled just watching him. We have great memories and photos from that trip. When we got back – I had every intention of an elaborate scrapbook to commemorate our trip (which is still not done – trip was in 2007!). I also wanted to make Will a quick little album that he could enjoy. I did finish that album and it has turned into the most beloved memory book in our house.

It’s Monday so you know what that means…Scrap-Lift Time! I’ve had this page in my idea binder for a couple years and I think I’ve used about 4 times (which is a lot for me)!

I love it when toddlers first learn to sing the alphabet song. My Grandson Landon (age 2) has an especially cute version. When he gets to “l,m,n,o,p” he simply says, “ELMO P”. Elmo is one of his favorite characters so I guess it makes perfect sense to him that his name would be in the middle of his favorite song! Landon is much older now, (2 1/2) and doesn’t sing it that way anymore, but I will always remember his funny version of the alphabet song. I’m thinking in about 15 years, this story and scrapbook page will be quite a hit at his graduation party, hee hee….it’s so fun being a grandma!

I tend to like simple pages that I can fit a lot of pictures on. Here’s a page I did from a trip I took to Greece.
I had the layout in mind before taking the pictures so I constantly was on the lookout for brightly colored things to photograph. I have a storage filer of cardstock scraps that I sorted through to find just the right shades for each photo (that shade of orange was SO hard to find!). You could easily do this layout for any theme; a child wearing different outfits, a garden, foods from a special event, images from your neighborhood park…options are endless!

It can be really frustrating when you have so many great pictures and you can’t decide which ones are “scrapworthy”. I take far too many pictures so relatively few photos make the cut into the scrapbook. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not deleting them completely! I still have CDs of all of my pictures in a CD album, I just had to start being more selective on the scrapworthy pics or I’d go crazy trying to keep up!
Once I have the best pictures selected, I usually still have too many. I’m here to tell you, size doesn’t matter. Shrink your prints! I love the collage feature on the Sony Print Station, I can get 2, 3 or 4 pictures on one 4×6. You can do this same technique with 5×7 or 8×10 and get even more photos on one print. Check out this layout…I fit 8 photos on one page and still had room for the title.
I also use the pocket page system in combination with scrapbook pages. This lets me scrapbook some pics that I really like and still include the other photos that captured the event by sliding them into the pockets. HUGE time saver for me! Here’s a layout I did of my Christmas card photo shoot I did with my girlfriends. I scrapbooked my first page with the photo I used on my card and then used a pocket page on the next layout to save time.
Scrap a lot. Scrap a little. Just scrap.

My scraplifting usually consists of duplicating an element or the look of a title. When I saw this page in Scrapbooks etc. I had to “borrow” the whole package! I knew I had a similar inspirational photo of my son and I loved the bold title and overall idea. I expanded and added a second page. It’s a very simple layout but one of my favorites.
