Scrapbook pages

You are currently browsing articles tagged Scrapbook pages.

Magazines–of all kinds–are a great source of inspiration for scrapbooking. Not only can you find great ideas for page layouts and color combinations, but you can also find page title ideas, too. The catchy article headers and cool typography can easily be translated to scrapbook pages!

While flipping through the pages of a cooking magazine, I found this page:

I thought the filmstrip border was fun and realized I could easily replicate the idea using a QuicKutz border die and some American Crafts Thickers!

In the same magazine, I discovered a few other pages that could work for scrapbook layouts, too.

This headline obviously works great for house-related pages.

I liked the mix of fonts–this look could easily be created using assorted letter stickers or die-cuts. With a huge assortment both in stores and online at Archivers Annex, you’re sure to find something similar to any font you see in a magazine.

So, the next time you’re stumped for title ideas, just grab a few magazines and you’re sure to find some great ideas!

Many of us have inherited family photos and they usually aren’t given to us in a nice photo album or even stored in archival safe boxes or envelopes.  Here are just a few ideas of what you could do to preserve the memories.

“Back to School” is right around the corner so I thought I would share a great tip for making school themed layouts…

If you are like me, you have mounds of school papers and kids artwork that you don’t want to throw out, but they are too large to scrapbook and they just take up too much room to store.  Why not make a color copy?  By making a copy, you can choose any size that works for you..Brilliant!  You could even use multiple art projects all on one layout. :)   If you are lucky enough to live near an Archiver’s, you can do it all right in the store!  Make copies, print photos and scrapbook in the workroom. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Gotta layout that really turned out nice?   Why not scraplift yourself…

I liked the simplicity and clean look of this layout, so I decided to use it again with different photos.  I love recycling…

I take so many pictures, I’m always looking for layouts that are cute and still allow me to fit more than one photo on the page.  I liked this collage of photos that still had space for a title and some embellishments.

I used our Print Station collage feature (you can print up to 4 pictures on one 4×6 photo, each of them being 2×3) and grouped the photos so they still had an even border around them.  This gives the illusion that they are matted, without having to actually mat them.  A really easy layout you could replicate for any occasion…those are my favorite kind :)

Tired of the traditional baby shower games and looking to do something meaningful for that special mom-to-be in your life? This is the perfect activity for you! Spice up a baby shower by creating a memory album for baby’s first memories. This activity allows guests to interact and socialize, get creative and work together to create a gift mom and baby will cherish for years to come!

Here’s how!

As the host, pick-up these basic supplies:

  • Adhesive
  • Paper trimmer
  • Scissors
  • Chalk ink (I love Chestnut Roan!)
  • 8″ x 8″ album
  • Coordinating paper and embellishments (I used the ADORABLE October Afternoon “Ducks in a Row” collection)
  • Coordinating 8 1/2″ x 11 cardstock
  • Ribbon
  • Basic punches (such as circles or border punches)

Once you’ve selected the creative supplies, spread out the goodies and encourage each guest to create a two-page layout allowing room for mom to add photos later. Consider pulling examples from magazines or even creating a few samples of your own to lead the way.  The result will be a coordinating completed album mom can use immediately!

This idea is perfect for more than just baby showers! By simply changing the type of paper and embellishments, this activity also suites a child’s birthday party, Girl Scout troop, bridal shower and more. If additional copies are needed, take completed pages to Archiver’s where you can easily make archival-safe copies on demand using the color copier.

What a cheerful creation?!

I’ve been holding onto this idea in my binder for a while so I was thrilled when I finally had the right page to create with this layout. Read the rest of this entry »

In a previous Scrap-Lift Monday post, I used a page layout as inspiration for a card. Well, this week, I’m doing the opposite–using a card (from the recent issue of Paper Crafts Card Creations magazine) as inspiration for a page!

The use of border punches on the card on the left immediately caught my eye. I own several border punches and have used them in the past to add a single scalloped strip to a scrapbook page, or add a decorative border to the bottom edge of a card, but I never thought about layering lots of punched strips before, let alone layering strips of the same color cardstock. It’s so fun finding new uses for the tools I already love!

I grabbed my favorite Fiskars and EK Success border punches, a few sheets of cardstock, and went to work. I like the way the page turned out and it was so easy to do!

Get out those border punches–or come to Archiver’s if you need some new styles–and give it a try!

If you attended our National Scrapbook Day event last weekend, you got to make the 6″ x 8″ portion of this pocket page.  If you didn’t get to make it to the event, you can still see instructions on how to make this page, plus see LOTS of other page ideas for the pocket page system!
