The top gift anyone could ever give me would be ‘more time’. If someone sold time at a store – I would be their best customer. For Mother’s Day this year, that is what I have decided to give my mom – my time. I am taking a long weekend to go to my parent’s house to spend time helping her organize our family photos. Since my children were born she and I don’t spend as much mother-daughter time together as either of us would like. It isn’t a sexy gift – but talk about practical…and way more fun to do with someone else than by yourself! She has been trying to organize her photos for months and dealing with digital photos, old photos from when she was young, 35MM photos/negatives from the 80s etc…She is overwhelmed.

There’s lots of things I love about Mother’s Day. I love that there’s a day designed to tell your mom how much you appreciate her. I love that, as a mom, I get to both appreciate and be appreciated. I love getting to sleep-in on Mother’s Day, waking up to the sounds of my daughters and my husband making breakfast. I love all the hugs given and received from all the different moms in my life.
There’s one thing I hate. I hate that it’s only one day. It feels rushed and there’s not enough time in that one day to do all I want to do:
1. Be lazy and take full advantage of a day that honors me as a mom.
2. Hang out with my kids and my husband and appreciate how much they appreciate me.
3. Have fun with my mom and express how grateful I am to have her.
4. Spend time with my mother-in-law who is like a second mom to me.
5. Acknowledge the other moms in my life; my sisters-in-law, my aunts, my grandmothers, my cousins
That’s too much for just one day!
So this year, I’m going to pack a whole bunch of it into one fun activity and combine it with something else I love. As you know, I’m a ScrapMania fan, so I’m signing up for the special Mother’s Day ScrapMania at Archiver’s. My mom and sister-in-law are coming with, along with my older daughter and niece, my mother-in-law and my husband’s sisters and their daughters. Instead of gathering at one of our houses, forcing one of us to cook and/or clean for the others, we’ll be relaxing, gabbing, eating and probably even doing a bit of scrapbooking!
Sign up to do the same on either Friday or Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend and have a blast with the moms in your life. Archiver’s will do the cooking and the cleaning, you just come and have fun and be appreciated.
And then take Sunday for yourself and make sure to get your “Be lazy and take full advantage of the day that honors you” time this year!
