So Many Circles

A short and sweet blog post for you today, but a really cute (and simple) idea nonetheless:

How cool is this table runner idea?  It could be adjusted to fit any theme.  Red, white, and blue for the 4th of July.  Red and green for Christmas.  Your favorite colors for a birthday table.  Endless possibilities here.

Plus.  You could use different size circle punches or even a completely different shape.

If you haven’t checked out the cardstock wall at your local Archiver’s, it’s definitely a must-see.  All of the cardstock we have in stores is in color order – all the reds are together, the oranges are together, and so on – making it really easy to find colors that work together.

You could even mix some patterned paper in to the assortment to change it up a bit.

Happy Pinning!

Fall Pins

It was starting to feel a bit fall-ish around here, so I thought it would be fun to find some fun, fall projects for my Pin of the Week this week.

(However, Minnesota weather is pretty ridiculous, and it’s supposed to be 92 and HOT today.  That’s not very fall-ish if you ask me…)

Anyway, my brain is in fall mode right now.  I’m so excited for the leaves to change, for hot apple cider out on my parent’s front porch, for Halloween decorations, crisp nights, making soup.  Fall is one of my favorite seasons.

Check out these awesome pins for some fall “pinspiration”:

What a cute idea…but the pin doesn’t link to anything, which is a major bummer.  You could easily make a cute decoration like this using patterned paper (adhere it to some chipboard for extra stability), a hole punch (the Crop-a-Dile would be great if you’re using chipboard), embellishments to match, and ribbon.

This was an idea created in our Algonquin store – how cute is that turkey!  There are so many awesome ways to use rosettes.  I think this turkey would be adorable on a Thanksgiving table!

Happy Pinning!

The home decor ideas on Pinterest are just unbelievable.  I could probably sit for hours just looking at ways to decorate kitchens and bathrooms and living rooms.  And then I could sit for a few more hours looking at my dream houses, shoes, and recipes I hope to make…but I’m getting off topic.

Today’s Pin of the Week turned out to be three Pins of the Week.

Like I said, there are so many fun ways to decorate floating around Pinterest, so I had to share three of those with you this morning:

What I love the most about these three ideas is that they’d be SO EASY to make!  Grab some patterned paper or cardstock, some adhesive, ribbon and/or fishing line, the Tiny Attacher would make those paper chains a breeze, and you’ve got some awesome ways to decorate!  The bright colors of the first pin would be so fun at a birthday party.  The second one would look awesome at a wedding if it was done in the colors to match everything, maybe by the place cards.  And how adorable are those banners in that nursery.

There are so many different patterned papers at Archiver’s and on the Annex and a rainbow of cardstock colors!

Stop by your local Archiver’s or pop on over to the Annex to get everything you need to start crafting!

Displaying Creatively

We did a little rearranging on the Annex…so hopefully you’ve gotten to check it out.  If not, it’s my Pick of the Week!

Our Home Decor section is now called “Creative Display” and has been broken down into more categories to help you find exactly what you’re looking for to decorate your home:

One of my absolute favorites right now are the District Market printed burlap panels from Tim Holtz (so bonus Pick of the Week?):

These are just a few of the designs available on the Annex.  I’m seriously considering putting a few of these above my bookcases at home.  We’ve got this library ladder bookcase thing going on in our living room and I think the Subway panel would be a very nice addition to the look we’ve got going on.  Culynn – thoughts?  :)

Happy Weekend and Happy Decorating!

Pin of the Week time.

Are you loving Pinterest this year as much as I am?  The only thing I REALLY need to do is start DOING the things I’m pinning!  2400+ pins…and I’ve only done a few of them…uff da.

So the Pin of the Week for this week is about this holiday that’s right around the corner.

Valentine’s Day.

Yesterday I shared with you a bunch of cute “little” ideas for Valentine’s Day.  Today, it’s about some bigger ideas for a few people.  Minis are great and really do mean a lot AND you can make a bunch in little time.  If you’re not big into this holiday, but still want to give a nice gift to someone in your life, check out these cute Valentine creative display/wall art ideas:

A frame.  A tray.  Some kind of creative display that shows how much you care.

ANYTHING handmade always means so much more than something you can pick up at the last minute at a store.

Here are a couple other ideas from Archiver’s…

I’d love to see your Valentine ideas for 2012!  Post a picture on the Archiver’s Facebook page!

Good Morning Blog Readers!

I have another round of Christmas-y/Holiday-y pins for you this week…this time using all of those extra buttons you have lying around.  (I have a bag AND a jar full in my scrap stuff…)

The actual “Pin of the Week” is simply adorable and would be perfect in any color and for just about any occasion.  Just grab your bag o’ buttons, some scrapbook paper or cardstock, and a frame (the 12″ x 12″ Prima frames would be just lovely for this project!):

Arrange your buttons, glue dot or pop dot them on the paper, add a bow, and done.  A beautiful piece of art for your home!  Check out some other pins I’ve found using buttons:

This is such a cute little ornament…and it would be a great kid craft too!  :)   You could make Christmas trees of all sorts of shapes and colors!  Now for some gift ideas using buttons:

The reindeer I just thought was funny…but it’s a great use of those odd buttons you have lying around.  The “A” would be such a great gift idea any time of year.  I really like that the “A” is on a burlap (or maybe it’s canvas, either way it’s super cute).  It definitely has a different look than patterned paper or cardstock.

Hopefully you’ve found Pinterest to be as inspiring as I have (even though I have a whole board of recipes I have yet to try…)!  There are so many amazing scrapbooking and crafting ideas out there and it’s a great way to keep all of the ideas I’ve found online in one place!

Happy Pinning!

Good Morning blog readers!

Are you getting excited for Thanksgiving this week (how is it this week already!)?  I seriously cannot wait.

This week’s Pin of the Week is perfect for this week of thankfulness…I was pretty excited when I stumbled upon it in my many hours on Pinterest…

It’s the mini library drawer from 7gypsies and it’s full of “10 Things”.  This would be such a great family activity for Thanksgiving, maybe when you’re waiting for all the relatives and friends to show up, or maybe after the food coma sets in a bit.  Have everyone write down one of their favorite things, or favorite memories, or something they’re thankful for.  Endless possibilities.

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving!  Thank YOU for reading!

Introducing…

The Pin of the Week!

Have you heard of Pinterest?  It’s probably my new favorite thing in the entire world.  (It seriously drives my husband nuts how often I’m on Pinterest…but I secretly think he likes it too).  It’s a site to find all sorts of creative new ideas and to share things you’ve found whilst searching the internet.  Basically, you create boards and “pin” ideas to these boards.  For example, I have a “Crafty Things” board.  Whenever I see a fun do-it-yourself project, I pin the idea to the board.  (It’s really not as complicated as it sounds…you’ll get the hang of it once you spend some time on the site.)

I thought it’d be fun to have a “Pin of the Week” blog each and every Tuesday (or maybe Wednesday depending on the week) and share an exciting idea that I’ve seen in my hours on Pinterest.  There are SO MANY ideas on this site.  Recipes, DIY craft projects, holiday ideas, fashion, photography, home decor, gift ideas, fitness tips, inspirational quotes, hilarious things (that I laugh out loud at), wedding ideas, etc.  Each week, I’m going to share something new that I think is just great.

So here’s my Pin of the Week.

Seriously, how easy would this be to make!  Foam squares, patterned paper, adhesive, and maybe a sanding block to create clean edges.  Done.  It’s wall art tailored to YOUR home and YOUR decor!  What’s even better – you can get all sorts of crafty and creative products at Archiver’s or Archivers Annex to make the brilliant things you see on Pinterest!

That’s what I love the most about Pinterest.  The creative juices are endless on this site!  Check out some more “pins” similar to my Pin of the Week:

Each Tuesday I’ll be posted some brilliant inspiration I’ve seen on Pinterest.  There are so many amazing ideas out there!  Just be warned, you might get addicted to this site!  It’s incredible!

Martha Tuesday!

Hey there blog readers!  How are you this fine Tuesday?

If you haven’t heard, it’s Martha Stewart week at Archiver’s and Archivers Annex!  All week long we’re celebrating the queen of crafting.

For today’s Martha Stewart themed blog post, I thought I’d share an adorable idea that was passed along to me from our lovely store in Indianapolis, Indiana (Thanks Monique!).  It’s a rosette pumpkin!

Isn’t it just adorable!  Check out the project idea on our website for all the items you’ll need to make a rosette pumpkin and directions on how to put it together.

You can definitely play around with the sizes of your papers and rosettes to make all sorts of different pumpkins.  I made two smaller ones and just messed around with different sized rosettes until I found the combination I liked the best.  I used Bazzill cardstocks to make this pumpkin:

I made the second pumpkin with patterned paper, just to try a different look.  This paper is from the Authentique Glowing collection (I also used some more Bazzill cardstock for the stem and vines).  Again, I just tried different rosettes until I found the combination I liked best!  Here it is:

Here’s a shot of both of them together, next to a standard sized pair of scissors, so you can see how big they actually are.  The biggest rosette on the orange pumpkin I made is from 2 1/2″ x 12″ strips of cardstock.

The great thing about pumpkins, is that each pumpkin looks totally different than the one sitting next to it.  Make a bunch of different sized rosettes and layer them however you want to create a whole patch of pumpkins!

To learn more on how to make rosettes, check out this VIDEO!

Happy Martha Stewart Week!

Who doesn’t love a handmade gift for Christmas?  The best handmade gift I ever received was a calendar from one of my best friends from camp.  She and I worked together for two summers and had probably a thousand pictures together from those six months.  The calendar she made me had tons of pictures from our adventures together!  It was so wonderful and meant so much because she had spent so much time working on it and picking out photos and embellishments.  It was in my dorm room in college for two years!

Archiver’s has some awesome calendar kits that would make PERFECT gifts for Christmas!  Check them out:

Create-a-Calendar Workshop Kit

BasicGrey Calendar Kit

Die Cuts with a View Calendar Kit

There are endless possibilities with calendars – way more than I could ever fit in this blog post!  Check out the calendar kits at your local Archiver’s or at the Annex!  Happy Scrappin’!
