I really enjoy making handmade cards. I put a lot of creativity and effort into my card designs, so in my mind, sending my finished cards in undecorated, plain envelopes just won’t do! Instead, I create coordinating, lined envelopes to send my cards in. It gives my cards a more professional presentation, adds lots of style, and is a great way to use up leftover patterned paper. It’s super easy to do, too–just follow these steps!

Happy National Scrapbook Day! OK, so the “actual” day isn’t until tomorrow (Saturday) but at Archiver’s, the celebration starts today and goes all weekend long!
In honor of the festivities, I don’t have just one Pick of the Week…I have THREE!

It’s Scrap-Lift Monday!
I was inspired by the use of circles on this page from a recent issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.
But instead of scraplifting the page, I decided to use it as inspiration for a card. It’s a terrific way to use up patterned paper or cardstock scraps and I love how colorful the card turned out!
Here’s a tip: I gather up my favorite punches or dies (I use circles, scalloped circles, scalloped squares, and butterflies the most) and pre-punch or pre-cut shapes from my scrap paper while I’m watching tv. I sort the punched shapes into bags so that when I neeed an accent, like for this card, they’re ready and waiting for me. It saves me a ton of time and is the perfect way to use up my scraps–which, in turn, frees up space for new supplies!

For those of you who haven’t heard, Sizzix Tim Holtz dies are at Archiver’s! We’ve got his alpha strip, decorative edges, signs, labels and more! Here’s a card I made using 3 of his dies: Caged Bird, Baroque label and Vintage Market alpha.
Card Tip: Use Cosmo Cricket’s 6×6 Mini Decks of paper for cardmaking. Since the patterns are smaller than their 12×12 sheets, you can see more of the pattern on small images, like the die-cut bird and label.
Full instructions for this card are available online.
Stop in Archiver’s this Friday-Sunday for Tim Holtz Demo Weekend! Get a chance to use his distress inks, cling stamps and the caged bird die. Love this :)

I love this card because it’s so easy and you could use it for so many occasions. I found this idea in a magazine using Doodlebug paper, ribbon and brads.
I used the exact same layout because why fix what isn’t broken!? My card features Bazzill flowers and their new blinged out buttons (love these!). Full instructions available online.
Thought I would start the week off with some funky “rock star” themed cards. I scrap-lifted the idea from a card magazine. The first one I made looked very similar to the one in the magazine. I then took the idea a step further, using medium and large squares. along with bright fun colors and “rock star” embellishments and rub-ons. I have lots of teenage sons and nephews who all think they are Jimmy Hendrix so these will be perfect for birthdays etc. (glad they don’t read our blog!)

They’re new, they’re fresh and they’re HERE! Unity Stamps have arrived. It’s kind of a big deal. Ang and I are loving the look of these stamps….even the packaging is cute
The card idea I’m posting today is from my favorite book of the moment (this changes frequently!) by PaperCrafts called A Card a Day. Over 365 ideas separated by month with brief instructions and designer tips. Love it!
Who doesn’t have trouble keeping track of birthdays? Getting the cards made is one thing – actually getting them out on time is a whole different issue. Traci Penrod, an employee in our Buford, Georgia store, created the greatest card organizer to help with this and I had to share. She made it to coordinate with the Basic Grey card workshop kicking off this weekend and it is not only adorable – but will save you time and money by planning ahead.
