My name is Meg and I LOVE owls.

No idea where I picked up this funny little…whatever you call it, but I love owls!  I have owl necklaces (I’m actually wearing one today!  Ha!), a couple owl rings, no owl coffee mug or t-shirts yet, but just give me time.  I even have an “Owls!” board on Pinterest…which leads me to the Pins of the Week:

How cute are these owls!  Both of them make great use of circle punches and the second (with the Rolos) would be so easy to make with the Fancy Label dies (an Archiver’s exclusive!).

What a hoot.  :)

Has spring sprung in your neck of the woods?

It sure has in Minnesota and I think everyone is coming out of hibernation (not that we really needed to with this winter that wasn’t) and I’ve been wearing my flips flops for about a week.

My Pick of the Week is very springy, and cheery, and is great for any project you might have going on…

My Mind’s Eye 6×6 paper pads

These are part of the new collections from My Mind’s Eye and seriously, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love these patterns and colors.  As most of you know, I’m working on my honeymoon album, and the “On the Bright Side” collection is PERFECT for all things St. Maarten.  The orange, diagonal paper in the lower right corner?  I think I bought three sheets…and then went back and bought another two (partly because I don’t have enough orange paper in my stash, partly because I love it so much, and partly because I forgot I had already bought it).

If you haven’t checked out these great collections, you’re missing out!  There are amazing 6×6 paper pads, gorgeous 12×12 papers, embellishments galore, and I’m pretty sure you’re going to love all of it.

Happy Friday!

Kid crafts are some of my favorites.  Seeing the concentration on their faces and the joy when they finish.  So cool.

I was a camp counselor for three summers and sometimes we had to get really creative with our crafts, due to an understocked craft room for that week.  But thankfully I always had a cabin full of girls that loved to make friendship bracelets all week long…we never seemed to run out of yarn.

Another reason I love Pinterest so much…awesome, awesome ideas for kids.  I even have a board started for my future kiddos.  So the Pin of the Week is really the Pins of the Week.  I found these two pins and just thought they were way too cute.

These quilled birds aren’t as complicated as your “regular” quilling.  Instead of making super tight circles, these are just loops and strips of paper.  You could make them as big as you want or as small as you want, too!

I’m seriously considering making my own book monsters.  I love to read and always have a book…but I can never keep a bookmark around long enough.  These would be a perfect project for using up all of that extra patterned paper or cardstock you’ve got lying around.

What kinds of crafts do you like to do with your kids?

Happy Pinning?

For a while there, I was on a bling kick.  Every layout I made had some sort of sparkle on it.  Gems, Stardust pen, glitter, pearls, Stickles, I could go on and on.

I love bling!

I’ve learned to tone it down (probably after being blinded my some of my layouts!) but really, I love bling too much to forget it completely.

Now for the Archivers Annex Pick of the Week:

American Crafts Glitter Tape!

I should also say that I love tape.  It was another kick of mine.  Tape on EVERYTHING.

Add some glitter tape to a card, a layout, a tray, a frame, a school binder, whatever, and you’ve got some bling without the mess of a jar of glitter!

Brilliant!

Plus, we have it in more than 60 colors on the Annex!

And don’t forget to leave your comment on the “For the first time ever…” post for your chance to win.  Click HERE for all the details!

Happy Friday!

I told you I was going to and now I have.

I have FINALLY used a pin as inspiration for a project.

So here’s today Pin of the Week:

I loved this quote, but I love the layout of it even more (which is hard to do with a quote from Audrey Hepburn).  The quotes on the top and bottom, the green banner in the middle.  The hardest part in using this pin as inspiration was finding a quote I wanted to use!

This is what I came up with:

Mine turned out a bit different, but that’s what ScrapLifting is all about, right?

If I could live at the beach, I would.  I absolutely LOVE palm trees and the ocean and the sand.  Ugh.  Love it.

The pictures are from my honeymoon to St. Maarten and are some of my absolute favorites from the trip.  I just turned them into instagrams to use on this layout.  The Sony machine has become my new best friend for printing instagrams.  The quality amazes me every time AND being able to print multiple photos on one 4×6 print is brilliant.

So some photos, three sheets of cardstock (it took me a few tries to get the banner right), Lily Bee Design alphabet stickers, Iguana Thickers, my black SMASH pen, my white Signo pen, a tape runner and some pop dots, and done.

How does Pinterest inspire you?  Have you created anything cool from a pin?

Happy Pinning!

Not being afraid…

Pinterest, oh Pinterest.  You never cease to amaze me…or inspire me.

I think a lot of us are afraid of failing.  I know I am, especially when it comes to scrapping the big things.  I get a bit stressed about which paper to use, which letters to use, if I’m going to run out of something, if I have enough of something, the list goes on.  I want my scrapbooks to look just right and be something I’m proud of.  It’s silly and I know it, and yet, I continue to stress almost every time I scrap.

But I’m learning and I’m growing and I’m getting over it…it’s all part of the process.

Like the “29 Ways to Stay Creative” says, “quit beating yourself up”, “allow yourself to make mistakes”, and “stop trying to be someone else’s perfect”.

Failure is ok.  Sometimes a “fail” turns out to be a major success.  We just have to get over the fear (which I know is easier said than done).  It’s all about learning and growing.

On a sort of unrelated note, I mentioned last week that I’m going to actually USE my pins to create something.  It’s in the works and it’s GOING TO HAPPEN!  So stay tuned!  :)

Oh Instagram.

One of my absolute favorite apps is Instagram.

If I didn’t look so silly (or think I look so silly) running around with my iPad, I’d take instagrams of just about everything.

It’s so much fun to play with the effects and take adorable square photos…and it gets better.

They’re PERFECT for my SMASH book (and we all know how much I love to SMASH).

I told you I was starting a new SMASH book – and here it is!  My new Eco Green folio.

Like I said, instagram is my new favorite thing, so I decided to create a page devoted just to instagrams.  It’ll be a great way to use the extra photos I might have lying around and a way to see all the things I’ve done.

I used the Sony machine at the Maple Grove Archiver’s to print off my instagrams and used the matte finish, and let me tell you.  They turned out WAY better than I could’ve imagined.  Here are some more that I haven’t cut up yet:

Here they are!  A couple 5×7 prints and a few 4×6 prints.

For this print, I had the option to select 8 different photos.  A lot of bang for you buck with this option!  I also added the “instagrams” text using that option in the edit screen.

This print is a 5×7 (hard to tell in this image) and the instagrams end up being just a smidge bigger than 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″.

This is another 4×6 and it gave me the option to choose three photos.  It just repeats the images you select, which is nice if you want to share your instagrams with the people you might’ve been with (like my cousin and my grandma!).

This is another 5×7 print and this had the option for 4 different images.  (And the gooey thing in the top right corner is called Sticky Pull Parts and Culynn does not share his recipe.)

Last one.  A 4×6 print.  Again, perfect for sharing with someone!  These end up being just under 2″ x 2″.

BONUS – Photo prints are 50% off on Tuesdays…PERFECT for printing instagrams!  :)

I just emailed my instagrams to myself (much like you’d have to do if you wanted a photo from a friend), saved them on my memory card as a jpeg, and then printed them at Archiver’s.
