Another post full of pinspiration today…
My Pinspiration – a backsplash from lowes.com
I really loved the subtle colors and how they seem to fade into each other…and I though it would look really sweet on a scrapbook layout. But then I had to figure out how to get the look I wanted.
I first tried using three shades of cardstock, but my squares were either too big, or the colors I chose just weren’t close enough.
So then I busted out a handy-dandy ink blending tool and some Spun Sugar Distress ink and found a great way to get the look I wanted.
I used really light pink cardstock (you’ll need two sheets of the same color) and cut 1″ x 1″ squares using my trimmer (a total of 100 squares – creates a 10×10 grid). I then figured out which ones I wanted to be the darkest, inked those, and placed them on my whole sheet of cardstock. Then I inked squares to blend with the darkest pieces and got everything positioned on my page the way I wanted it. There were a few squares that I didn’t ink at all. Then I just used my tape runner to adhere them all to the page. I eyeballed the placement of the squares, but you could definitely use a ruler or draw guidelines before you adhere your squares.
Here’s what I came up with:
So then what…this would be a pretty boring page in a scrapbook…
Throw some pictures on it!
Here are some close ups so you can really see the dimension on the page. It’s kind of hard to see the variances in the color, but the squares are inked! I promise!
How have you been “Pin”spired lately? Any cool ideas that you’ve used on a scrapbook layout or a card?
Happy Pinning!
