I have resisted scrapbooking because it seems so overwhelming, but have recently thought about doing these smaller projects to mark special events in our lives. Then the scrapbooks feel less demanding and more special. The first I would do would probably be an album celebrating mine & my husband’s 5th wedding anniversary coming up in May.

This album is the perfect incentive for me to start an album I’ve been thinking about doing for a very long time. I have yet to scrap anything for myself. I have so many single, simple memories from my life that are important to me that I want my future generations to know were highlights in my life. For example, the first sunset picture I ever took — it’s not the best one I’ve taken, but it’s the one that started me taking them. Or, a memorial page for Mr. Pumpkin who died recently; without him life in my hometown the weekend before Halloween each year would not be what it is today. Or perhaps my favorite picture of grandpa in his worn out coveralls standing outside the hen house with his faithful dog at his side. It’s the perfect album for the little things in life that don’t require a two page 12×12 layout to get the message across.

This is the perfect album to document my childhood memories. It’s size makes it easy to complete. I think it’s important that we put our own story in an album. We spend a lot of time writing down stories of our family that we forget to do ourselves. Our stories will die with us unless we put them to paper.

It reminds me of my Grandma, who has been gone now for several years. When I think of her I think of flowers, Fall colors, birds, great food, needlework and quilting. I would fill it with memories of her and share it with my children, who never got a chance to know their great gram.

I lost her almost two years ago to cancer and this was played at her funeral. Years ago I put together all of my grandmothers pictures into a 12×12 scrapbook for her. When my grandmother passed away, my parents kept the book. Before Christmas, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. On several occasions over the past few months, I have watched my mom paging through the old scrapbook. While the pictures make my mom laugh, and bring back fond family memories for her, she struggles with the size of the album. It’s just too large for her to handle comfortably. The 6×6 size of this album would be perfect to capture all of the family pics in a smaller, more easy for her to handle size. Thank you for the chance to win!
