As we start to approach graduation season, here are a few tips to keep in mind when working on display boards…
- If you adhere the photos to the display board, make copies so you don’t have to try to peel the photos off later. Or do what I did and use photo corners to hold the pictures in place without placing adhesive on the actual photo. (The clear ones are my favorite and they’re already sticky on the back!)
- Use school colors to mat some of the photos, add school memorabilia or make copies of newspaper articles to display with the photos.
- Organize the photos as you put them on the display board, makes them easier to scrapbook when the party is over!
- Arrange their school photos around the perimeter of a posterboard and place 1-12 by each photo. Simple, but cute. (Difficult to see, but it’s laying on the table in the second photo).
- Take pictures of your hard work before you dismantle the display!

I had to prepare a board for my daughter for senior night for cheerleading. I knew I wanted to make it do double duty during graduation so I “themed” the board to include her entire senior year, not just cheerleading.
If you want, you can see it here:

For our hockey team, the senior mom’s prepare a board that goes in a large frame or shadow box. It is done much the same as an oversized scrapbook page and they turn out beautiful. Do not be afraid to make it a permanent work of art. For example, varsity letters tend to end up in a drawer later if not put on a jacket. These go nicely on a senior board along with golf score sheets, medals along with photos. This is a great way to display the imporant memorabilia more permanently and timely. Most do not specifically do hockey but will have a section for family, friends, sports & other activities.

Brenda-I have a son graduating this year. I wanted the decorations to reflect on him and what he enjoys. He loves playing football and we also tractor pull.
I’am putting a 12×12 mirror on the tables with a graduation themed 12×12 paper & a solid school colored paper diagionally off to each side of mirror. On the mirrors I’m putting footballs & international tractors on the mirrors along with confetti, and a senior picture like his pic with his football jersey on the football tables, and a senior picture with the pulling tractor on the tables with the tractors. I hope this gives you an idea I just knew that I wanted his graduation to be special and to be about what he enjoys. Good Luck! -
I just did centerpieces for a band banquet. I used tera cota pots and painted them red. I wrapped tissue paper around a piece of styrofoam and tied with ribbon. I placed this all into the pot and stuck stick balloons with Mickey Mouses head (we had a dsiney theme), a picture of each Senior (which I trimmed with red paper and laminated), sticking star stickers to the backs of the pictures so that it looked nice at all directions and used mytalic sprays for follage around. They were bright and just large enough for the tables. I did something simlar to this last year only I used an upside down top hat and used music notes for sticks and placing a picture of each senior in the center of one of the music notes. A HINT…. i used shishkaboob sticks to put the pictures, notes etc. on to stick and then into styrofoam.

For my daughter I’m using the glass kraft blocks filled with shredded gift wrap and displaying a photo on each side of the block. Also ordered battery operated candles to put in the bottom.

I have heard of using clear tablecloths and putting pictures scattered on the table under it.

I need help!
My granddaughter is a graduating senior and I want to make a display board of pictures I have taken of her throughout her 17 years. Well, I have hundreds of photos that I have taken and organized, but no ideas for putting together a board or probably several boards. I wouild appreciate any help I can get. I don’t have much time and just sit here looking at the pictures. I have lots of pictures of her varsity swim team besides pictures of her growing up, including family and friends. Thanks for your help!

Pick out your absolute favorites (sometimes that is hard) maybe one for each year. For my Daughters Graduation board I made a large “filmstrip” and used her school pictures leading up to her Graduation picture. Good Luck!

Brenda- You could also do photo cubes.
Diane- Maybe you could have different themes for every board, such as swim team or other extracurricular activities, friends, family, school, etc. Or you could display them chronologically. Good luck!

I found small black tins at my local Michaels craft store. I am adding a 6×6 square of black cardstock to the top. Making it look like a graduation cap. i am also adding a tassel made from embroidery floss and a button to top it off. You could group with a vertical photo clip and use different school or favorite pictures. Good Luck and Congratulations!
