My about-to-be 4 year old daughter is having a birthday in a couple weeks. Her chosen theme? A Princess party of course. Ever since I let the cat out of the bag that her birthday is coming up soon, she asks me just about every day “When is my birthday mommy? Is it today?” She was very excited to help create the guest list for her party and she loved the invitations I made, I think mostly due to the adorable princess crown stickers!
These invitations (I made 18 total) took me just over an hour to create from start to finish. I started with pink cardstock, then printed the invitation wording on white cardstock and matted it with patterned paper, then added the princess crown stickers (from Jolee’s Boutique, comes in a three-pack). Very fast, easy, and just what the princess ordered!
The birthday party invites I’ve created over the years for my girls’ birthdays are some my favorite projects. Looking back at them, I am reminded of my daughters’ personalities and preferences at each fun age. They also bring back memories of their birthday parties; a special cowgirl cake, big sister helping little sister blow out her candles, frosting-covered cheeks and fingers, and their delighted faces opening gifts from friends and family.
For each birthday, I always make at least one extra invitation to save. Right now, they’re all tucked safely in page protectors in an album. Someday soon, my intention is to create an album for each of my daughters with their birthday party invites through the years along with a few snapshots, mementos and memories from the party. I hope it brings back just as many fun memories for them as it does for me.

What a great idea! I haven’t always made my children’s invites, but have saved the ones I have made. Oh, and those Princess invites are great!
